When we put the addition on the house, we renovated our kitchen with new counters and knobs and a new floor. We kept the appliances because they were all fine and in working order. Well now it's almost time to get a new dishwasher because all the prongs on the basket are falling off because they are corroded. We have all white appliances now but I'd really like to go with black/stainless. (Actually...I'd love to do the Oiled Bronze from Jenn-Air but that's way too pricey!)
So....would you buy the stainless/black and slowly convert all the appliances as you need to or would you stay with the white and have all the appliances match? (everything is 10 years old except for the fridge which is probably about 6 or 7)

Do they still make dishwashers with reversible fronts? My mom had one of those for a long time. That way you could make it white so it matches the current appliances, then switch it to black when you replace the rest.
Even if you get a stainless fridge and stove later, I think a black dishwasher would look fine along with it. That's what we have and it doesn't bug me at all.
I think I would go with Black. Stainless shows sooooo many fingerprints, unless you buy the really expensive stainless that doesn't show fingerprints. good luck.
You really have to do it all together if you want them to match.
hopping on over from Everyday Matters... We have been working on our kitchen too. The cabinets are much like yours in color. We have gone black with the appliances. I love the look of stainless but it is a) more expensive and b) shows every single itty bitty fingerprint and with three kids 7 and under you'll drive yourself bazooey! Our fridge has woodpanneling. Would this be an option for your dishwasher? It would tie in quite well with the cupboards and then you could go either black or stainless with the other appliances. I didn't think I was going to like the black, but I do!
Now, where you have lovely countertops and floor we have TERRIBLE white formica countertops and really old tiles on the floor that always look dirty. We also need a new backsplash. I need a kitchen fairy who'll come and just wave her magic wand!
I'd go with the stainless/black if that's what you want. So what if it doesn't match right away. Are you going to be happy with white again? or wish you had gotten the color you wanted?
I would go with the black. We have all white with a stainless steel and I cannot stand having to wash the front of the dishwasher with special cleaner to keep it looking nice, never mind what a fridge would be like!! You could go with the brushed stainless that doesn't show as much, but I am not sure if you can use magenets on them either...
